Austin, 46, on March 29 and charged her with one count of arson for a March 17 two-alarm fire at Interstate Inn in the 2100 block of Indian Hill Road. Firefighters from Harrowgate, Dutch Gap and Chester fire stations responded Monday, March 11, to Interstate 95 for multiple brush fires between Woods Edge Road and Route 10. Chesterfield Fire and EMS spokesman Jason Elmore said the fires were most likely caused by a vehicle throwing sparks while driving. There is a heightened danger for fires at this time of the year, and special burn laws go into effect. Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, to the 11800 block of Lewis Road for a fire at the Ingenco building, where methane from the landfill is converted into electricity at the Shoosmith Bros. complex. A warehouse building had fire and smoke conditions when firefighters arrived, Lt. Jason Elmore said in a press release. It took crews approximately an hour to get the fire under control. Firefighters fight a fire at an Ettrick grocery store last week. One firefighter was injured while battling a fire in the 21100 block of Chesterfield Ave on Wednesday, Feb. 6. Smoke showing from the roof of Virginia’s Best Mart Grocery Store at 21113 Chesterfield Ave. was reported around 11:50 a.m. “Occupants of the building self-evacuated,” Chesterfield Fire and EMS Lt. Jason Elmore said. The fire was under control at 12:15 p.m. The cause of the fire was electrical, Elmore said. Elmore said the firefighter had non-life threatening injuries. The store will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.

Fire trucks responded to a home on Buena Vista Boulevard. CHESTER – Flames from a Jan. 22 vehicle fire in the 2300 block of Buena Vista Blvd. quickly spread. “It all began around 9:01 a.m.,” Chesterfield Fire and EMS Lt. A 35-year-old Polish Arabian horse named Tigre was down in his stall, in the 7900 block of Cogbill Road, and the owner and vet had done everything possible to get him up, Chesterfield firefighters and a large animal special rescue team was soon on the way to help.
