GordonNeal Wise Police arrested three suspects in relation to a shooting that occurred on Chippenham Parkway (Route 150) at about 2:40 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. In a press release, police said a tractor-trailer had just merged onto Chippenham Parkway north when its driver heard a gunshot. The driver realized he had been shot and saw a gold Hyundai Sonata occupied by three people passing his vehicle and heading north. Police investigating suspicious death

Chesterfield County Police continue to investigate a woman’s death. Just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, police were called to the area of Kingsland Glen Drive for a report of a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, officers located a body that had been burned. Through investigation, detectives identified the remains as those of Helana M. Swigert, 24, of no permanent address. Her cause of death has not yet been determined.

Goode Pierce The driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of East Hundred Road and Meadowville Road on March 19 was recently charged with involuntary manslaughter. Police said a Mazda Protege was traveling east on East Hundred Road when it began to turn left at a crossover, but then reentered the eastbound travel lane. A white Infiniti sport utility vehicle, which was traveling behind the Mazda, struck the Mazda and pushed it into the crossover. Robertson convicted of $10M fraud

A former L.C. Bird football player was convicted by a federal jury on Oct. 28. Merrill Robertson Jr., 39, was convicted of mail fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud and money laundering, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 3. Robertson had been convicted of the same offenses in 2017 and sentenced to 40 years in prison, according to the daily. However, an appeals court ordered a new trial earlier this year because jurors weren’t questioned adequately about whether they had read a news story about the case. Police investigate crash, warrants issued

The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating a vehicle crash that occurred in the 4500 block of Iron Bridge Road at about 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3. Police said a black BMW was traveling west on Iron Bridge Road when it left the roadway and traveled down an embankment near Falling Creek north of Route 150. Two men were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Three arrest warrants were obtained for Abdul-Malik Lawton, 37, of Richmond, related to DUI and driving on a revoked license.

Four adults and six children were left homeless when fire broke out at a residence in the 8700 block of Belmont Road on Thursday, Oct. 24. The call came in around 5 a.m. Lt. Jason Elmore of Chesterfield Fire and EMS said crews arrived on scene to find smoke and fire showing from the attic of the two-story home. Occupants had evacuated while crews were on the way, Elmore said. The occupants are being assisted by family. The cause was ruled as electrical. Man shot, dies; suspect arrested

Brockenbrough A 24-year-old resident of the 4100 block of Walderbrook Court – located near Turner and Belmont roads – was arrested last week and charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the shooting death of Tyvin K. Dixon, 28. Police responded to a shooting around 7:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, in the 9700 block of River Road in Matoaca. Dixon was transported to an area hospital, where he died. Kevin R. Brockenbrough was arrested Oct. 22 and was being held in the Chesterfield County Jail, according to police spokeswoman Liz Caroon.
