Having grown up in Chesterfield County, graduating from Meadowbrook High School in 1972, Becky spent most of her adult life in North Carolina and for many years enjoyed her panoramic view of Lake Gaston from her lovely home on Pea Hill Creek. Fire damaged a home in the 3400 block of Foster Avenue on Saturday, Sept. 26, around 7:38 p.m. and left six people homeless. Fire and medical crews arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the front door of the home. Occupants evacuated. No injuries were reported. Lt. Jason Elmore said the fire cause was cooking. Joshua C. Brady Chesterfield County Police have arrested a man who allegedly bribed an 18-year-old woman to file a false sexual assault report against a third party. An investigation indicates that Joshua C. Brady, 33, offered the woman money to file a false report against a 17-year-old male who is known to him. Brady, who also uses the name Joshua Weston and poses as a British citizen, allegedly bought items for the woman. One firefighter was injured and two occupants displaced when fire erupted at a house in the 5000 block of Cedarbend Lane on Tuesday, Sept. 17. “Crews arrived on scene to find heavy fire showing from a front window and through the roof of the house,” Chesterfield Fire and EMS spokesman Jason Elmore said. The occupants evacuated and were not injured. A firefighter was injured and treated at the scene and was not transported to a hospital, Elmore said. The cause is undetermined, Elmore said.
A county school bus and a tractor-trailer collided at Old Bermuda Hundred and Golf Course roads at 9:16 a.m. Sept. 19. “Seventy juveniles were on board the bus,” Chesterfield Fire and EMS spokesman Jason Elmore said. “Two were transported for injuries.” The vehicles had moderate damage. “The driver of the tractor-trailer was charged with failure to yield right-of-way,” police spokeswoman Liz Caroon said. Chesterfield County Police are investigating a Sept. 20 shooting in the 3600 block of Luckylee Crescent, between Meadowdale Boulevard and Route 150. At about 11:30 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report of a man who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police believe that the suspect is a bearded black man, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was wearing a black hoodie and gray sweat pants. The suspect also had a tattoo on his face.
