Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at the A Plus gas station at 2421 W. Hundred Road just east of Chipotle Mexican Grill at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. No one was injured in the robbery. Police said a man rushed into the business, pushed the clerk to the ground and took cash. Upon taking the cash, the suspect fled on foot in the direction of the Suburban Inn. The suspect was wearing blue jeans, sneakers and a black jacket with a hood covering his face. A 15-year-old L.C. Bird High School student was charged after she allegedly assaulted two school employees and a school resource officer last week. Chesterfield County Police Department spokeswoman Liz Caroon said the teen was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of assault and battery against a school official, two counts of attempted malicious wounding and possessing a weapon on school property. A dog perished in a house fire in the 4200 block of Laurel Oak Road on Nov. 20. A call came into emergency communications at 3:04 p.m., fire officials said. Crews arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from the home. A vehicle in the driveway was scorched by the flames. “No one was home at the time,” said Lt. Chesterfield County Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in the 6800 block of Jefferson Davis Highway at about 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20. A silver 2005 Chevrolet Impala pulled off Swineford Road and was crossing the southbound lanes of Jefferson Davis Highway when it was struck by a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was traveling south on Jefferson Davis Highway. SHEFFIELD, Franklin Mason Sr., 80, of Chester, passed away of cancer on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at his residence. Born April 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Frances Benson and James Elvin Sheffield Sr., and was also preceded in death by his brothers, William Frances Sheffield and James Elvin Sheffield Jr. Franklin was a lifetime member of Ivey United Methodist Church.
