The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating the death of a male infant whose remains were discovered in the area of the 21400 block of Rutledge Avenue on Thursday, Oct. 10, in Ettrick. While responding to the area of Rutledge Avenue to serve outstanding warrants, officers learned that the remains of an infant may have been recently buried at the location. Investigators responded and recovered the remains, which were transported to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The investigation into this case is ongoing. Joshua C. Brady Chesterfield County Police have arrested a man who allegedly bribed an 18-year-old woman to file a false sexual assault report against a third party. An investigation indicates that Joshua C. Brady, 33, offered the woman money to file a false report against a 17-year-old male who is known to him. Brady, who also uses the name Joshua Weston and poses as a British citizen, allegedly bought items for the woman. A county school bus and a tractor-trailer collided at Old Bermuda Hundred and Golf Course roads at 9:16 a.m. Sept. 19. “Seventy juveniles were on board the bus,” Chesterfield Fire and EMS spokesman Jason Elmore said. “Two were transported for injuries.” The vehicles had moderate damage. “The driver of the tractor-trailer was charged with failure to yield right-of-way,” police spokeswoman Liz Caroon said. Chesterfield County Police are investigating a Sept. 20 shooting in the 3600 block of Luckylee Crescent, between Meadowdale Boulevard and Route 150. At about 11:30 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report of a man who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police believe that the suspect is a bearded black man, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall. He was wearing a black hoodie and gray sweat pants. The suspect also had a tattoo on his face.

A tractor-trailer, wrecker and multiple police cars went to what may seem to be an unlikely destination: the Shoosmith landfill off Lewis Road and Route 10. A broken-down trailer was discovered at Bells Road and Interstate 95 in Richmond, and it contained a less-than-pleasing aromatic load of 40,000 pounds of rotting potatoes. Chesterfield police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the 14100 block of Drumvale Drive, east of Jefferson Davis Highway, around 1:25 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. Police said the victim was exiting his vehicle when three suspects approached and displayed a firearm. One of the suspects struck the victim in the face and took his wallet before the group fled on foot. The victim did not sustain serious injuries. The Chesterfield County Police Department reports that Melissa D. Edmondson, 39, died following a two-vehicle crash in the 7100 block of Woodpecker Road at about 6:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6. Police said a 2018 Volkswagen Beetle was traveling west on Woodpecker Road when it crossed into the eastbound travel lane and struck a 2015 GMC Sierra pick-up truck head-on. Edmondson, the driver of the Volkswagen, was transported to an area hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries. Police are searching for a suspect who robbed the Wells Fargo Bank branch at 5630 Hopkins Road at about 9:20 a.m. Aug. 22. Police said the suspect approached a teller and passed a note demanding money. When the teller did not immediately respond to the note, the suspect allegedly assaulted a nearby customer. Upon receiving cash, the suspect fled the scene in a red truck, which was found abandoned in the area. No weapon was displayed during the robbery. Police responded to the 3700 block of Cannington Drive, east of Hopkins Road, for a report of a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, officers located a woman in the roadway with a knife. It was later determined that the woman with the knife had feloniously assaulted someone.
