Registration open for incoming Chesterfield kindergarten students

Chesterfield County Public Schools will begin in-person kindergarten registration for the Class of 2033 at students’ home schools beginning this week by appointment. Families of incoming kindergarten students who have already preregistered online or whose child participated in a Chesterfield prekindergarten program during the 2019-20 school year will be contacted by their child’s school to set up in-person registration appointments. All other families can call their child’s school to schedule a kindergarten registration appointment or complete the online preregistration form in order to be contacted. Summer Meals Program open to all students ages 2-18

School division has served more than a million meals during pandemic Chesterfield County Public Schools recently surpassed 1 million meals served to students during the global pandemic, a time during which schools are closed to in-person instruction but students still need support. Former science teacher, EMT takes over at Matoaca

Matoaca High will be greeted by a new face in the fall: Elizabeth Baber, the school’s new principal. Baber was the associate principal at Monacan High, and she will be replacing John Murray, who served as principal for three years. Baber taught science for four years before becoming an associate principal, but being a teacher was not always her goal. Her penchant for helping people led to her volunteering for a local rescue squad, where she said she realized her impact would be greater if she helped to instruct and build others in their skill set as emergency medical providers.…
