Corey Johnston, a member of Colonial Height’s American Legion Post 284’s Senior Pirate’s baseball team, was awarded the top scholarship that can be bestowed on an American Legion Baseball player from the American Legion Department of Virginia during the annual end of season Baseball Banquet at Post 284. Cory is the son of Daniel and Shelly Johnston of Chesterfield and is a 2015 graduate of Thomas Dale High School. When Michael Birdsong takes the field for his first game as starting quarterback for Marshall University, there will probably be some jitters. When the crowd chants its famous chorus of “We Are Marshall,” there’s likely to be a shiver down his spine. TD Alum Reavis bound for JUCO After being dismissed from Virginia Tech’s football program and losing an appeal to be reinstated, Thomas Dale alum C.J. Reavis announced via Twitter that he would be attending the #1 junior college program in the country, East Mississippi for the next academic year. After transferring to Norfolk State from Old Dominion this past spring, Gerard Johnson was eager to get on the field and show what he could do. In another rendition of the Bronco 11 World Series, annually hosted by Chesterfield Baseball Clubs (CBC), the hosting CBC team hoisted the trophy and champions this year. While the home town All-Stars fell short in the final four on Sunday, it was Murietta Valley, California that brought home the second title for The Golden State in three years.
