During halftime of the boys’ basketball game against Meadowbrook, Thomas Dale held their 8th annual “Ring of Champions” ceremony. The Ring of Champions is meant to honor former students and coaches who made tremendous contributions to the Knights’ family. The first honoree was Les Keenan, Class of ’68. Les was a truly multi-talented athlete, being a three year starter in three different sports. He earned All Tri-City honors in both basketball and baseball, but ultimately baseball was the sport he decided to pursue further. He was a star baseball player at Ferrum College before later transferring to play outfield at…

After a tough start to the season turned into a playoff berth for the Meadowbrook Monarchs, lineman Chris Artis has something to be even more proud of. The 6-2, 305-pound tackle has committed to play football at Chowan University. “I chose Chowan so my parents would be able to come to my games,” said Artis. “And I really liked the coaching staff.” The Chowan commit had interest from North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, Morgan State and Virginia State. Artis started at guard in his sophomore and junior campaigns but was switched to offensive tackle in his senior year. He…

Hines was an important piece to the Skyhawks’ defensive puzzle in 2015 as he provided excellent coverage and…

Caleb Oberly (106), Angelo Scott (120), Blake Correa (126), Jealon Williams (138), and Chris Collins (152) were among the standouts. Scott, Correa and Collins were all unblemished. The Knights graduated the dominant Corey Leonard last year and were without two key combatants in Roderick “Main” Wilson (160) and D.J. Williams (195). Anchored by a very solid group of wrestlers in the lower weight classes headlined by Scott and Correa, Thomas Dale figures to compete in the Conference 3 Championships.…

A very long and appreciated vacation after another hectic business year. However, management had…
