Henricus Historical Park hosted the inaugural Hops in the Park Harvest Festival last Saturday. With approximately 3,500 attendees and proceeds going to support the children’s education fund at Henricus and the Old Dominion Hops Cooperative. Sharing the fun with Mouse King, the Chinese Dragon, the Russian Bear and the Mother Ginger children, 11-year-old Chester resident and dancer, Keri Burke, will have a holiday season she will never forget. Burke will be performing with the cast of the Richmond Ballet in Artistic Director Stoner Winslett’s “The Nutcracker.” She is dancing as one of the Mother Ginger children and is in one of the three casts that will perform during the holiday season. Curtis Elementary was the first school in Chesterfield County to have the Watch DOGS (Dads Of Great Students) program. Watch DOGS is a nationwide program where dads or other positive male role models volunteer one or more school days in the school. “We are very proud of our awesome program,” said Susan Pereira, principal at Curtis Elementary. In this picture, one of their Watch DOGS, Mr. Rouze is reading with two kindergarten students from Mrs. Morehead’s class. His daughter is in this class.
