VDOT asked the art class at L.C Bird and other Chesterfield County Schools to participate in painting a snow plow blade. They chose as their theme the Varina-Enon Bridge deeming it a beautiful Chesterfield County landmark. Visual art teachers who participated: Mrs. Gearles, Mrs. Gia, and Mr. Zoller. Snow plow painters: Destiny Brown, McKenzie Brown, Josh Banton, Ethan Dotson, Ryan Flanagan, Dalton Hepler, Robert Jeter, Sara Kuzma, Cheyenne Lowery, Alicia Martin, Cristian Mejia, Maggie Miller, Andrew Nichols, Veni White, and Heaven White.

On Monday, Nov. 21, it was discovered that a skimming device was placed on the ATM at Argent Credit Union’s Chester location at 11900 Chester Village Drive. Any cards used at that ATM Nov. 12 or 13 could be vulnerable and may be at risk for fraudulent activity. The personal information that could be at risk includes: member name, card number, expiration date, and personal identification number. Letters will be going out to all affected members stating that their compromised cards will be blocked. The credit union will also replace their check immediately of any suspicious transactions. The Chester and Richmond Civitan Clubs recently joined forces to assist the Greater Richmond ARC and Camp Baker in Chesterfield in upgrading their respective kitchen facilities. With a matching donation from the Chesapeake Civitan Foundation the two clubs donated $21,000 for the recent upgrades. Bensley Elementary School has been named a National Title I Distinguished School based on its sustained academic excellence. This is the second time in 14 years that Bensley Elementary has achieved this prestigious recognition, marking only the sixth time that a Virginia school has earned this national honor more than once. Bensley Elementary was selected for the honor again based on exceptional student performance for two consecutive years. Two Chesterfield County Public Schools students won the Virginia War Memorial 2016 Veterans Day Essay Contest, and the students both read their winning essays at the Veterans Day Ceremony Nov. 11 at the Virginia War Memorial.
