Crime Solvers is asking for your help to solve a grand larceny out of Colonial Heights. At approximately noon on May 15, two males entered the Slip-In Shell in the 400 block of Southpark Boulevard. One of the men approached the counter to distract the clerk while the other man went into the business’ back office. The man stole a large sum of cash from the office and walked back toward the counter. On May 16, our fire service family lost a man who was a friend to every person that he met. Retired firefighter George Decker was just that person. George worked on A-shift at Stations 14, 3, 8, and 12 for the majority of his career. George was a humble, humorous, and hard-working guy. To look at George, you would not expect to find that he was college educated; he could also figure numbers in his head faster than anyone I knew. He was also a good carpenter. After his death, many firefighters began to post memories of George on Facebook.…

CHESTERFIELD, Va. – On Saturday, May 21, the Chester library hosted “Get Your Wheels on the Road,” a bike workshop presented by the Rag & Bones Bicycle Cooperative of Richmond. A volunteer-run shop, located in Scott’s Addition, Rag & Bones offers workshops and public tools, sells affordable bikes, and teaches bike maintenance and safety. The library Saturday program, aimed toward families but welcoming of all, promoted safe riding and “do-it-yourself” bike maintenance, just in time for the upcoming summer months.
