FOLAR meets goal of $100,000 challenge grant for river trail

The Friends of the Lower Appomattox River had a year-long campaign to receive a $100,000 matching grant from The Mary Morton Parsons Foundation of Richmond reach its goal last month, thanks to the generosity of the many supporters who donated a total of $105,000 to the effort. The funds are targeted at improving the Appomattox River Trail through Petersburg Patton Park and the Historic Petersburg area, which is a central section of FOLAR’s ongoing 20-plus mile long, multi-million-dollar Appomattox River Trail improvement campaign. Coastal Plain League coming back to Tri-Cities

The Coastal Plain League is no stranger to the Tri-Cities. Once in Petersburg, there will soon be an expansion team just down the road in Colonial Heights. Now in its 23rd season, the league has 26 franchises playing on the East Coast in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Marching Knights perform in Disney parade

The Thomas Dale High School Marching Knights traveled to Orlando during spring break in March. Students visited the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Universal Studios. The highlight of the trip was marching in the evening parade at Disney’s Magic Kingdom on March 29.
