Noe makes colonel

On June 1, Christopher D. Noe was promoted to the rank of colonel in the U.S. Army. Noe – pictured with his father, Cliff Noe of Chester – is a graduate of L.C. Bird High School. On June 15, Noe graduated from the Naval War College in Newport, R.I. Noe and his family will be stationed in Daegu, South Korea.

The Chesterfield Baseball Club 10U Mustang All Stars traveled to the PONY Virginia State tournament in Windsor, Virginia June 23-25 where they went undefeated and won the state title. The team’s bats were on fire. They scored 75 runs while only giving up 27. Three-car crash The Chesterfield police are investigating a three-car vehicle crash that occurred in the 6500 block of Jefferson Davis Highway around 10:28 p.m. July 1. Police said a sedan was travelling northbound on Jefferson Davis Highway in the southbound travel lane when it was struck by a sport utility vehicle turning left onto Dundas Road. The sedan then collided with another vehicle on Jefferson Davis Highway as it waited the light cycle. A passenger in the sedan was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Warehouse, gravel road planned by EDA

A 250,000-square-foot office/warehouse is in the planning stages for the Ruffin Mill Industrial Park in South Chesterfield. A site plan says that Rosyln Farms Corp. of Colonial Heights plans to build on 17 acres at 801 Port Walthall Road in the Walthall Enterprise Zone. Some 91 employees would work in the building, according to the site plan. The Chesterfield Economic Development Authority is involved with the project, county planner Steve Prusik said. Chesterfield resident Darlene Chinn recently won a Hometown Heroes Award. Sponsored by the law firm of Allen, Allen, Allen & Allen, the award celebrates acts of kindness and heroism throughout Richmond, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg and surrounding areas. Chinn, a former military spouse, is passionate about helping veterans. She first became involved with Veterans Helping Veterans Now after meeting its founder, Henry Mack, at a grandparents support group, Kinship Connection. In South Africa, traffic lights are called robots. In Chester, they seem to be suggestions, rather than absolutes. In two days, I have watched more people run red lights than seemingly normal. This morning, I watched a school bus for the handicapped run a red light.
