State’s newest DAR chapter opens in Chesterfield

Chesterfield County has the newest Virginia chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The Chesterfield Courthouse Chapter held its organizational meeting at Magnolia Grange May 5. At the event were state and district officers, organizing members and prospective members of the new chapter. The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War. Low-income apartments getting upgrades; Federal funding passed through Colonial Heights EDA

CHESTERFIELD – An affordable housing complex located off south Jefferson Davis Highway is getting a facelift. The owners of Colonial Ridge and The Glen at Colonial Heights apartments entered into a 30-year memorandum of understanding with Chesterfield County late last year meant to ensure the “livability and continued maintenance” of the property, which is located on the west side of the highway at Mangowood Drive just south of a railroad overpass. The agreement requires extensive renovations to 292 units, including new roofs, frames, doors, furnaces, condensers, thermostats and hot water tanks. C.C. Wells students help at assisted living home

CHESTER – First-grade students and teachers at C.C. Wells Elementary School have worked closely with Magnolias of Chesterfield, an assisted living facility, for their yearly Project Based Learning project. Students took information they have been taught and worked on self-directed projects to create and share products based on real-world problems. The students chose to focus on showing good citizenship.
