0I attended a retiree luncheon the other day and got into a conversation with one of the most respected truck lieutenants that I ever had the privilege of working with. We were talking about the retired firefighters that have had to deal with varying types of cancer. My thought was that my generation of firefighters would be the last of the high cancer numbers. Fort Clifton Arts & Crafts Festival
0The 41st Annual Fort Clifton Arts & Crafts Festival will be held May 7 and 8 at Berberich Park – site of Fort Clifton in Colonial Heights located behind Tussing, Elementary – 5501 Conduit Rd. The Fort Clifton Festival began in May of 1976 as part of the Bicentennial celebration and has now become an annual event held on Mother’s Day weekend. FBLA members volunteer at Chesterfield Food Bank
0Members of Matoaca High School Future Business Leaders of America recently volunteered their time and service at the Chesterfield Food Bank, located on Iron Bridge Road in Chester. This event was organized by Austin Sutherland, chapter secretary and was a huge success. The representatives at the food bank were very appreciative of FBLA’s efforts in this endeavor. Members agreed that it was a humbling experience to help others in need by giving back to the community. Mr. Cassein Carter, chapter adviser, attended the event and praised the volunteers for their commitment to serving their community.
