Elizabeth Davis Middle Host “Pink Out” Game
0The Elizabeth Davis Lady Ravens basketball team will be hosting their second annual “Breast Cancer Awareness” game on Thursday, October 22 at 3:15 p.m. The Ravens will host crosstown rival Carver. The game is in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Coach Braxton Byerson encourages the community to come out and support the cause.

0The State of the James River report gives the river’s health an overall score of 61 perent and a grade of B minus this year. This represents a 3-percent increase in the overall score since 2013. Achieving a B minus for the first time in decades shows that the Commonwealth’s investments in clean water are realizing results. 0The Arbor Day Foundation has designated Virginia State University (VSU) as a Tree Campus USA. This national designation honors colleges and universities for promoting healthy urban forest management and engaging the campus in environmental stewardship. To receive Tree Campus USA status, VSU had to meet five core standards of tree care and community engagement: Establishment of a campus tree advisory committee; evidence of a campus tree-care plan; Verification of dedicated annual expenditures on the campus tree-care plan; involvement in an Arbor Day observance; and creation of a service-learning project aimed at engaging students. 0The Chesterfield County Public Library will host its seventh annual Teen Read Week Masquerade on Saturday, Oct. 24, 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Central Library, 9501 Lori Rd, Chesterfield.
