Historical Society present lecture on Numismatics and the Civil War
0The Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia (CHSV) will present a lecture on Numismatics and the Civil War at historic Magnolia Grange House Museum on Saturday, October 3 at 12 p.m. The lecture will be presented by local numismatist (collection of coins) and currency dealer Parry Bragg who serves as a director on the board of the Richmond Coin Club as well as the board of the Virginia Coin Club. Historical Society to offer classes on genealogy
0The Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia (CHSV) will offer a course of six classes entitled, “Chasing Your Ancestors: Beginning Genealogy” on Saturday mornings, starting on October 3 thru November 7 in the society research library located in Historic Trinity Church, 10111 Iron Bridge Rd. 0Members of the Chester Presbyterian Church want to feed the community, and starting Tuesday, Oct. 6 Grace Café will open its doors from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. serving single guests and families a good solid meal. 0Hello and welcome back to the wonderful but sick world of the Dogpound. Yeah…I got one of those annual head colds…that starts out slow. The roof of my mouth gets tender…then it spreads to my throat…then the nasal drip starts which irritates the throat and starts the coughing. Over the past week I have been able to get most of it calmed down; gargling with salt water [yuck! But effective!)…taking Dayquil and Mucenix. But now I am left with this little bit of a “cat fur-ball” itch that defies the ability to cough it out or drug it under control.…
Virginia drivers entering peak season for deer collisions
0RICHMOND—Virginia drivers’ odds of a collision with a deer are 1 in 97, compared to the national odds of 1 in 169. Those odds are more in Virginia drivers’ favor than in 2013, when they were 1 in 88. The deer migration and mating season runs from October through December, causing a dramatic increase in movement among Virginia’s deer population and resulting in more collisions on roadways, with the largest amount in November.
