American Dream

1

Everyone has a dream: a dream of how they want to move though life and where they will be at their end. Maybe it is a lifelong bucket list. When I was young and left the first rock ‘n roll concert I had attended, (the Doors and Janis Joplin) I wanted to be a rock star or at least a rock ‘n roll guitar player. I also dreamed of having a great wife. When I was married to her and Linda and I had our children, my dream was for their success, for them to reach adulthood as someone better…

After looking at the building plans for a lemonade stand and the pile of wood to be cut and assembled Friday, July 18, a few of the of Chesterfield Community Church (CCC) members did not think they could get it done. The mission was to build a lemonade stand to be used the next day. for a competition through Anthem’s Lemonade, which raises money for local kids with cancer. The group of CCC members got the job done and came together to design and decorate a lemonade stand, raising $500 for the Anthem Miracle Network to help cure cancer. For…

Hens Started Layin’

If you recall, a while back I informed you all that we had gotten some chicks. We purchased four little fluffy babies at Boulevard Flowers back in March and were happily tending them in a plastic tub that was sitting in the corner of my den. Now, I am a tad OCD and having little baby chicks, as cute as they were, living in my house was almost more than I could handle. I literally vacuumed daily, cleaned out their living quarters almost by the hour (the smell), and dusted by the minute, chickens love to scratch you know. Unfortunately,…

The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to identify and locate two thieves. Around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, two young men entered the AT&T store located at 11649 Midlothian Turnpike, at the intersection of Courthouse Rd. They left the store only minutes later, but it was enough time for them to have stolen four Samsung-brand smartphones. The phones were display models, and valued at more than $2,600. Both suspects were last seen walking from the store toward Michael’s and Panera Bread, within the same shopping center. The two suspects were black males between 23-27 years…

No Right Turn

0

One of the intersections that I travel through regularly is Curtis St. & West Hundred Road (Rt. 10). For anyone that has attempted to make the right turn from Curtis St. onto West Hundred Road. to the east, you know what a drastic change needs to occur. The ability to see fast moving traffic was obscured by bushes and the curve, as vehicles approach that intersection from Chester. My wife and I would state regularly that this needs to be a no right turn on red. The weekend that this changed, and yes it did change, was the epitome of…
