0A few weeks ago, Yvonne and Otis Royster stopped by Little Caesars Pizza to pick-up 12 pizzas for the Bingo Party at McGuire Veterans Hospital. Ms. Royster had six pizzas stacked in hand when passing a car with three teenagers. She was surprised when one of the boys offered to help. She says the young man jumped out of the car and carried the six pizzas to her truck and went back inside to carry the other six pizzas out for her husband. The young man was Anthony Parker. 0Chigger bites are a regular summertime annoyance in Central Virginia. Most commonly found in grassy fields, gardens, forest areas, and parks, chiggers thrive in moist, vegetated areas with high humidity, hitching a ride on the unsuspecting human passer-by. Also called the harvest mite or red mite, chiggers are the six-legged, wingless larva form of the Trombiculidae mite. They are arachnids, like ticks and spiders. 0Sue Patton and Betty Patton visitwith their mother, Susie Elliott, at Tyler’s Retreat almost daily. Mrs. Elliott celebrated her 106th birthday last weekend, August 1. She is the mother of nine children – three of her children have passed away. She is a grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother to many and loved by all. Minnie Susie Elliott was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains in an area called Meadows of Dan, Virginia. She was from a large family. All of her brothers and sisters have passed away. 0The Chesterfield United U13/ U14 Girls Soccer Team visited Montreal, Quebec, and Ottawa, Ontario, for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The girls played three international games and attended three World Cup games. The U13 girls are pictured here at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal where they watched No. 1 Germany defeat No. 3 France in a nail-biter.

0The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to solve a shooting into an occupied dwelling. On July 22, 2015, Chesterfield County Police were called to a residence off the 8700 block of Forest Hill Avenue in reference to a house being shot at. It was later determined that the possible suspects in this incident were previously at a nearby Circle K and were involved in a domestic assault incident.
