CCPS to convert lockers to classrooms
0Since high school students don’t necessarily use lockers anymore, the Chesterfield County Public Schools board has decided to convert the space to classrooms. During the April 14 meeting, which was held virtually with each board member in a different location, the board approved a $1.29 million contract for ARM Contracting to convert lockers to 28 spaces at four high schools, including Clover Hill, Cosby, Matoaca and Meadowbrook. Revised budget presented, tax rates approved
0It was a virtual meeting with each of the supervisors in a different location. On April 8, the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors heard a revised budget presentation from deputy county administrator Matt Harris. The board approved 2020 real estate and personal property tax rates, which are the same as 2019. Harris said that county staff took a holistic approach to the budget revisions brought on by the impact to the economy from COVID-19. Minter was a great facilitator for the Monarch’s this season, averaging seven assists per game to go with nine points and three rebounds per game. The 6-5, 190 pound junior had 38 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries in the 2019 season. The senior has received many collegiate offers in her high school career, which included offers to Averett, Bridgewater, Claflin, Roanoke College, Shaw, Shenandoah, and Virginia Union. 0Justin Beavers The Youth and Apprentice Spring Turkey Hunting Weekend in Virginia was April 4 – 5. Local huntsman Justin Beavers sacked a turkey for Easter dinner. Beavers, 13, had the opportunity to go on a hunt over that weekend with his uncle, Larry Hollowell, on his farm in Farmville. He had been a hunter for six years and this was his first turkey. “I was so excited, I about cried,” he said in an email. He shot the bird on the morning of April 5 around 7:30 a.m..
