Planning commission recommends approval for water treatment facilities

The Chesterfield County Planning Commission recommended approval for a public water treatment plant and wastewater pump station in the area of Walthall Industrial Park in the Bermuda District. Case number 20PD0137 calls for the county to purchase 348 acres of raw land located at 1600 Ashton Park Drive. The parcel is currently zoned I-2. It is adjacent to I-2 and agricultural zoned properties to the south and west. Wetlands border the property’s north side, with the Appomattox River to the east. On November 23 Boy Scouts from the Arrohattoc District dropped off bags they collected in neighborhoods to provide meals in support of Feed More. The Scouting For Food drive, a staple in the Boy Scout program, provided over 110,000 meals last year. This year marks the 32nd year of the annual food drive in the Heart of Virginia Council. Between the three sites in the Arrohattoc District, scouts collected 4,485 bags. Christmas Mother Auction raises over $50,000

The 13th annual Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother Live/Silent Auction took place Nov.16 at the Cultural Center of India.  The event brought in over $50,000 for the Christmas Mother program.  The auctioneer, Wayne Covil of television station WTVR, made the evening’s bidding a festive affair.  The guests enjoyed delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres and music by Uncommon. CCPL hosting annual Artisans’ Bazaar on Dec. 7

The Chesterfield County Public Library is hosting the Artisans’ Bazaar, an annual event featuring 33 local artisans who will display and sell their work. Some of the custom-made items include handcrafted jewelry, pewter figurines, soaps, photography, watercolors, and crocheted items. The event is a fundraiser for Chesterfield County Public Library, LaPrade Library Friends’ group.
