Hello and welcome back to the wonderful but hurting Dogpound. Yes, despite all of the exercise and eating right… well… mostly right… I had to give up and go to a chiropractor. My sciatic nerve has been acting up something terrible of late… especially in the car. Not sure why the car is such an issue since I can sit at my computer at work or at the table at home with minor issues, but drive for 30 minutes and I get this pain crawling across by buttocks and down the right side of my leg. I had a serious…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound where things are in a constant state of change. As I mentioned in the last article, I was forced to join the new gym at the hospital and I had my concerns. One of my concerns was the fear of overcrowding, but so far it has not been too bad. One reason for this, I am guessing, is that I can get to the gym before the 5 p.m. clock crowd arrives. However, there are still some concerns. I like to use the barbells…I think they give me more…

Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. If we know anything about this little world of ours, we know that “change” is always in the wind. I have mentioned in the past that my company has their own little gym, located downtown, up three flights of stairs, and there it is. Surprisingly it used to be a skating ring – has a wood banked floor and everything. I never did find out why they decided to build one on the third story of this old building (many years ago), but they did and it was pretty nice…

Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. One of the things I like about this part of the year is college football. As I have stated in past articles, I was born and raised in Ohio – the middle of high school and college football country, and of course the home of the Buckeye Nation. With that being said I try to watch the Buckeyes play whenever I can, and I also root for the other Big Ten teams when they are playing teams from another division. On occasion I catch a major match-up within the Big…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. I have two things to cover. First I want to bring to everyone’s attention something I mentioned in my last article. As a reminder, if you missed that article, I mentioned that my Master had told me last week that I need to get an article in ASAP or they would be forced to run an “oldie but goodie.” I was sure I had submitted an article for the week but you have to listen to the boss, however, I cautioned that my Master had been wrong in the…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. I am kind of in the dog pound myself, since I appear to be late for this week’s column. I had bookend “weekend” football games for my birthday, one college and one professional, so I am pretty sure I wrote an extra article, but the Master says not so. However, just between the pack and me, the Master has had to eat his words in the past, maybe he is a bit hungry this week? Wink! I enjoy both types of games, but I just think the college games…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. Now I have nothing against change, change can be good, but at the same time, while you are adjusting to that change it can be a real pain. For example: when I go shopping at my local grocery store, I know where every item is and I can walk the store from right to left and perfectly get everything I need without any fuss or muss. Now our grocery store has decided to change everything around. The spring water for my fish used to be on the first aisle…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. Yes, it is that time of the year again when we check the obituaries and if we do not see our name, then that is the green light to celebrate. Of course at my age, which will go without saying, celebrating is a bit milder than my younger years. My plan right now is go out to lunch with a friend of mine who has the same birthday as I do, and attend a football game. That’s about all the excitement I can handle these days. Speaking of age,…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful but sick world of the Dogpound. Yeah…I got one of those annual head colds…that starts out slow. The roof of my mouth gets tender…then it spreads to my throat…then the nasal drip starts which irritates the throat and starts the coughing. Over the past week I have been able to get most of it calmed down; gargling with salt water [yuck! But effective!)…taking Dayquil and Mucenix. But now I am left with this little bit of a “cat fur-ball” itch that defies the ability to cough it out or drug it under control.…

Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. Right now I am dogged tired. I have been cleaning house all week. When I mean cleaning, I have been cleaning the outside of the house. Once a year I give the siding a good cleaning to get the dirt, bugs, bird droppings, and mildew off. I am sure everyone has seen those commercials where you just spray some chemicals on, and like magic, you have bright, clean, good-as-new siding. I have never had that experience. I have a wrap -around porch, from the living room entrance way around to…
