Dogpound Confusion

Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. One of the things I like about this part of the year is college football. As I have stated in past articles, I was born and raised in Ohio – the middle of high school and college football country, and of course the home of the Buckeye Nation. With that being said I try to watch the Buckeyes play whenever I can, and I also root for the other Big Ten teams when they are playing teams from another division. On occasion I catch a major match-up within the Big Ten not involving Ohio State. Like last week, two big rivals of the Buckeyes were going to play each other in a very important match – Michigan State and Michigan. I was not sure what time the kick off was but I figured it would an early game so I adjusted my daily “to-do” list to finish in time to enjoy the game. I scanned the TV channels but I could not find the game listed for a noon or 1 p.m. kick-off. However, I did find a football game where they were scrolling the scores at the bottom of the screen. I noticed that this game was listed, Michigan 12 and Michigan State 7. Gee, the game had already started and my basic cable did not carry the game. Ok, I could wait until half-time of one of the games that was on my TV and at least catch the highlights as the game progressed. I came back and caught a halftime show, and as before the game scrolled at the bottom of the TV; the score was still the same Michigan 12 and Michigan State 7, must be a very tough and competitive game I thought. Just as I was about ready to turn the TV off, one of the announcers stated that he was really interested in seeing how the two teams matched up. My ears perked up! What? Then they switched to a live shot showing the players getting off the bus and walking down the hallway to their locker room. Yep! The game had not started yet; it was a 3:30 p.m. kick-off. The scores you ask ? Those were not the scores. If I had paid more attention, I would have noticed that the numbers was their national ranking. Michigan was ranked number 12 and Michigan State were ranked number 7. I really felt kind of stupid…but I was by myself…so no harm, no flag. However, despite that little bit of confusion I did get to watch the game that I thought I had missed. Good things do come to those that wait. LOL

That is a wrap for today. As always be good, do good, play safe, and remember – ”Are you ready for some football?” I am!
