EARTH DAY APRIL 22  Earth Day celebration at Beulah Pool Join Beulah Pool as they do their part to keep our Earth healthy. On Saturday, April 22 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., there will be an on-site yard sale until 11:30 a.m.. Spaces are still available for rent for $20. Along with the yard sale, the members are collecting used shoes and electronics including cell phones, laptops, tablets, e-readers, iPods, and mp3 players to be recycled. Kindergarten registration April 20

Kindergarten registration for all school divisions in central Virginia is April 20. Kindergarten is a full-day program offered in every Chesterfield County elementary school. A child must be 5  years old on or before Sept. 30, 2017, to attend kindergarten. Every Chesterfield County elementary school will register incoming kindergartners from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on April 20. Parents are asked to take their children to the elementary school they are zoned to attend. To find the correct school, parents may call 318-8743 or go online to mychesterfieldschools.com and click “Find my School” in the Parents section. Taylor named most improved defensive player at FSU

Thomas Dale alum Darvin Taylor II has now been at Florida State for two years. While he was redshirted his first season and dealt with injuries in the offseason heading into and during the 2016-17 season, it appears that he’s turning a corner, one of health and growing success on the field. Southside Speedway Race Night

Southside Speedway will run its second race of the season this Friday. The track opened last Friday night with one of the largest Late Model car counts in the state. The family owning the Chesterfield track prides themselves on running a family-friendly venue entertaining generations of fans. Rotary adds new competition to 2017 Grillin’ on the Green

This year’s Chester Rotary “Grillin’ on the Green, A Taste of Chester” will include a sauce competition along with the traditional BBQ competition and the “Taste of Chester” People’s Choice Awards. Similar to the BBQ competition, sauce competitors will be awarded first and second place trophies in four categories; best in Tomato Base-Mild, Tomato Base-Spicy, Mustard Base, and Vinegar Base sauces.
