Draft Bikeways and Trails Plan, which is proposed to be a new chapter of the Comprehensive Plan is moving forward. The plan, which will be part of the overall Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Master Plan made its way through a countywide public meeting process and was approved by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC) at their April meeting. Ten citizens spoke in favor of the plan, PRAC unanimously endorsed the plan. Recently, the Planning Commission held a work session and set their public hearing on the draft plan for Tuesday, June 16, at 6 p.m. A public hearing is a time for you to present your view about the plan to the commission. The public hearing will be held in the Chesterfield County Public Meeting Room, located at 10001 Iron Bridge Rd. If you are not able to attend the meeting, you can email your district commissioner.
According to Heather Barrar, principal planner, there will be at least one more public hearing during the planning process. The draft plan will be reviewed at a meeting held by the Board of Supervisors, and public input is encouraged. The date for that meeting will be announced as soon as it is scheduled. The draft Bikeways and Trails Plan can be found on the planning website, and hard copies are located at each of the county’s libraries.
