RE: It’s Over

To the Editor:
Well I see Mr. Gray’s interests have expanded from The Great Climate Change Hoax into attempted gun grabbing. His predictions in “It’s Over” (V. News, 12/09/15) are as crazy as the ones on climate. The goal is the same: big government control over every aspect of our lives.

Despite much-publicized recent shootings, since 1981 violent crime in the U.S. has fallen from 594.3 per 100,000 people to 403.6 in 2010. Homicides have fallen from 9.8/100,00 to 4.8 in the same time frame. These are FBI statistics. Further, by the most conservative estimates, in the U.S. there are almost 2,100 defensive gun uses per day by armed law-abiding citizens attempting to prevent harm. You seldom see such facts, because they don’t support shameless liberals’ tactics.

I don’t know if Gray’s harebrained statement that gun laws are weak and nearly anyone can legally buy a gun stems from ignorance or liberal parroting. But, I suggest he go to a gun store and ask to see the Federal and State documents that must be completed and signed under penalty of law.

Lastly, when danger is only seconds away, the police are only minutes away. (This is not to malign the police. They do the best they can.) Incompetent or worse officials are emptying jails and failing to close our borders. The number of new gun owners continues to grow rapidly. Gray’s bogey straw man, “the gun lobby,” is actually many millions of freedom loving Americans. A majority.

His belief they will support or permit actions that keep them from defending themselves and loved ones by trashing the Second Amendment are more delusional now than ever.
