Per coach Leon Gholson, Thomas Dale girls basketball guard/forward Jazlyn Eastling recently announced her verbal commitment to Division III Averett University in Danville.
Eastling was not a big scorer for the Knights, at about four points per game, but a solid work ethic allowed her to snag seven rebounds per game. Another calling card for Eastling are strong defensive skills, something that Gholson instilled in his team all season long.
Thomas Dale lost in the Conference 3 championship game to Cosby, 61-42 before traveling to Woodbridge in the 6A South region tournament, falling 67-53. The region appearance was the first for the Knights in four seasons.
