Is Christmas here yet?

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful holiday world of the Dogpound. I am sure Christmas will be a wonderful holiday but I already got my little taste of it on Thanksgiving Day. I wanted to get a photograph transferred to a poster board and my little cracker-box Wal-Mart does not have that capability. Backtracking a minute…I like to take pictures and I usually make some of the better ones into 8x 10’s to hang on the wall, but of late I have gotten into canvas posters. Something about the texture and the wrap-around picture that makes the pictures stand out..almost makes it look like a painting versus a flat photograph [Also way more expensive]. Anyway, I had taken an early morning picture of a fog shrouded tree, where the sun was situated right behind it, sending out rays of light through the bare branches; I thought it would be a good candidate for canvas. As I said, my local store does not have this capability so I had to go to the big-town store that was 25 miles away. I knew that Wal-Mart was planning a pre-emptive strike on Black Friday by having a 6 pm sale on Thursday…[no reason to wait for dinner to settle is there?]…so I got to the store by 5pm…allowing me sufficient time to get in, place my order and get out without being trampled. I have to tell you it was intense inside….shoppers had already formed lines with cart and shopping list in hand, strategically locating themselves by the item they wanted to grab when the horn sounded….and the stares I received if got to close to a store display that they had their eyes on.

No Christmas spirit in those eyes!! LOL However, to my surprise all of the kiosks were unavailable…..that is what it said on the screens, and the clerk told me that “corporate” had made a decision to shut down the photography area. Strange and a wasted trip! Having learned my lesson I waited till Saturday morning, figuring all of the shoppers would be tuckered out and would sleep-in till noon…but to my surprise the kiosks were still down. Grrrr! As I stomped out of the store I decided to stop at Customer Service to voice my complaint about the situation, and they were equally clueless as to what was going on or when the service would be available. However, there was a bit of good news…their handy man/electrical guy happened to come by and overhearing our conversation interjected that he had just got them turned on. Yea! Let the Christmas season begin!!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“If I were a medical man, I should prescribe a holiday to any patient who considered his work important.” Bertrand Russell
THINK
In the men’s room at work, the Boss had placed a sign directly above the sink. It had a single word on it — “Think!” The next day, when he went to the men’s room, he looked at the sign and right below, immediately above the soap dispenser; someone had carefully lettered another sign which read — “Thoap!”

That is a wrap for today. As always be good, do good, play safe and remember Christmas will be here before the credit card bills arrive….so enjoy it while you can!! JR
