Dogpound luck and not so lucky

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. It has been a weird week for sure. I had my car picked up from work to have the oil changed, and when I got it back it had a weird humming sound. It would come and go….sounded kind of like a belt coming loose. I figured I better take some time off and run over to the shop before it closed. I only have one car and itbeing a 2004…it needs all the TLC it can get.

While driving over there, I discovered that by turning off the heating fan…the sound would stop, however, driving with my window down for air flow was not a good option (plus it messes up my hair!). The mechanic was nice enough to take a quick look, and he came back into the office holding my hood support rod. It had come loose (actually, the plastic ring that held it in place had broken) and it had slipped over so the tip was just touching the fan. Just a bit of luck that it had not fallen down further where it could have jammed the fan completely…causing a major malfunction. So thankful for that. The other weird thing is coming from McDonald’s. They have come out with their newest commercial offering…three Big Mac’s. Yep! A junior size, a regular size, and a grande size (not large…but grande).

I cannot imagine them having one of those customer marketing focus groups and the main take-away was that they wanted more Big Mac choices. Must have been a very slow day in the advertising department! The final thing…is not so much weird…but bad news….my contractor has abandoned the house he was building for me, and now I am left to not only scramble to find a new crew but also to replace the money he had been given that was not spent to acquire supplies or labor. Good news is that I found another crew that was in between houses, but it still leaves me scrambling to find sufficient funds and a good lawyer. Wish me luck!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
“The only sure thing about luck is that it will change.” – Wilson Mizer

QUICKIE
What do you get when you cross poison ivy with a four-leaf clover? A rash of good luck.

APPEARANCES
A young businessman had just started his own firm. He rented a beautiful office and had it furnished with antiques. Sitting there, he saw a man come into the outer office. Wishing to appear the hot shot, the businessman picked up the phone and started to pretend he had a big deal working. He threw huge figures around and made giant commitments. Finally he hung up and asked the visitor, “Can I help you?” The man said, “Yeah, I’ve come to activate your phone lines.”

That is all I have for today. As always, be good, do good, play safe and remember, more times than not, you make your own luck. JR
