Calvin Pearson, founder of and president of Project 1619, will discuss his organization’s mission to promote awareness of the first Africans brought to America by the English. Pearson will discuss the importance of the 400th anniversary of this momentous occasion and why it is essential we understand the human toll of slavery. Register online at library.chesterfield.gov.

MAD SCIENCE: FIRE AND ICE – 10:30 a.m. to 1130 a.m. Ettrick-Matoaca Library, Ettrick-Matoaca Meeting Room. Children will be dazzled and entertained as they interact with our “Mad Scientists.” Foggy dry ice storms, giant beach balls floating in the air and even a special “burp” potion will amaze children as they learn about chemical reactions, air pressure, and the states of matter. Grades K-6.
