WEDNESDAY FEB 12

CHESTERFIELD NEEDLEWORK FRIENDS – 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Central Library, Chesterfield Business Suite Conference Room. Knit, crochet, socialize, and share your techniques.  All skill levels welcome.                        

MAKERSPACE OPEN HOURS – 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Central Library Makerspace. The MakerSpace in Central Library has open hours each week. No appointment is necessary to visit during these times – anyone can drop in to work on projects and explore the space.

HIP HOP TO FITNESS – 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Ettrick-Matoaca Library, Ettrick-Matoaca Meeting Room. This dance class offerS new and traditional dance styles of the diaspora with international sounds. This is a great workout with Afrobeat music. Fun for all stages of fitness.

THURSDAY FEB 13

PROJECT 1619  – 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Chester Library. Calvin Pearson, founder of and president of Project 1619, will discuss his organization’s mission to promote awareness of the first Africans brought to America by the English. Pearson will discuss the importance of the 400th anniversary of this momentous occasion and why it is essential we understand the human toll of slavery. Register online at library.chesterfield.gov.

MEADOWDALE PAGE TURNERS – 10:30 .m. to 11:30 a.m. Meadowdale Librar,  Meadowdale Meeting Room. “Once Upon A River” by Diane Setterfield will be discussed.

SCHOOL’S OUT! WINTERTIME ART KART – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Meadowdale Library, Meadowdale Meeting Room. Make it a “crafternoon!”  Spend your half-day off with us and make some simple winter crafts!

SATURDAY FEB 15

MAD SCIENCE: FIRE AND ICE – 10:30 a.m. to 1130 a.m. Ettrick-Matoaca Library, Ettrick-Matoaca Meeting Room. Children will be dazzled and entertained as they interact with our “Mad Scientists.” Foggy dry ice storms, giant beach balls floating in the air and even a special  “burp” potion will amaze children as they learn about chemical reactions, air pressure, and the states of matter. Grades K-6.

TEEN ART CLUB – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Chester Library, Chester Small Room. Get creative and share your love for self-expression. Bring your own art project and supplies. Ages 12-18.

GO-GO YOGA – 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Chester Library, Chester Combined Room A & B. Get your wiggles out with yoga. Yoga helps children with body movement and stress relief. Kids learn basic yoga positions with the help of their parents while enjoying our collection of yoga books for kids. For ages 3-6 and their caretaker. Register online at library.chesterfield.gov and only the child needs to be registered.

MONDAY FEB 17

HOMEWORK HELP CLUB – 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Meadowdale Library.Providing assistance to parents and students (Pre-K-5).  Activities for younger children are available. Schedule follows CCPS school calendar. 

YOU ARE THE HELP UNTIL HELP ARRIVES! – 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Chester Library, Chester Combined Room A & B. Life-threatening emergencies can happen fast, and emergency responders aren’t always nearby. This FEMA-developed program will help you educate and empower yourself to act in an emergency situation and provide lifesaving care before professional help arrives.

ENON EDITIONS – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Enon Library, Enon Meeting Room. “Oregon Hill” by Howard Owen will be iussed.

MAKER HOURS WITH SEWING MACHINES – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Chester Library, Chester Room B. Grow your “maker” skills with Chester Library by dropping in for our open maker hours. Sewing machines are available for use, so get ready to make your masterpiece! 3-D printing on display, with opportunities for use coming soon. Materials for practice only provided.

HOMEWORK HELP CLUB – 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Chester Library. Students in grades Pre-K to5 can connect with volunteers for help, use library resources, and have space to do their homework.

MOVIE FEATURE: THUNDER SOUL (PG-13) – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Chester Library. Follow the reunion of Houston’s famous Kashmere High School Stage Band as they return to the stage to honor their beloved band leader. Register online at library.chesterfield.gov.

INTRODUCTION TO ANCESTRY AND ONLINE GENEALOGY – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Central Library, Chesterfield Business Suite Conference Room.  Learn how to conduct, verify and organize your genealogical research using Ancestry Library Edition and a variety of free online tools.  No appointment is necessary to visit during these times – anyone can drop in to work on projects and explore the space.
