Matoaca has continued to make waves over the past weeks as athletes continue to reel in scholarship and roster spot offers. This week was no different, as the football team’s Ahkari Haggard, Jordan Robinson and Benjamin White, all checked the box this week.

Haggard is a 6-2, 295-pound offensive and defensive lineman who can move despite his size. He picked up his second offer from Methodist University.

“Haggard is a team leader and a solid student,” Matoaca coach Jay Parker said. “He has really good feet and good athleticism, and [he]has worked very hard on his strength this offseason. He’s probably our strongest player.”

Jordan Robinson and Benjamin White both picked up offers from Hampden-Sydney.

Robinson (5-10, 170 pounds) played in just two games last season due to injury, but he spent his time on the field at defensive back and slot receiver for the Warriors. As a sophomore, he earned a starting job, and he figures to start as a junior, as he’s fully recovered from injury.

White (6-1, 215 pounds) spent time at both defensive end and tight end for Matoaca. A great athlete, he served as one of the team’s top blockers for a litany of weapons at coach Jay Parker’s disposal.

Thomas Dale linebacker/defensive back Shamus Jones also reeled in an offer from Hampden-Sydney, a program that has been quite active in the area over the past few weeks.

“Shamus is a tall and athletic LB/WR [who]has been a two year starter on varsity,” said Thomas Dale coach Kevin Tucker.

Jones totaled 102 total tackles as a junior, and according to his coach, he has a Division I ceiling.
