The Chesterfield County Police Department is partnering with the Chesterfield Food Bank to bring a comprehensive services fair to the community. Several organizations will participate in the fair, which is called H.O.P.E., Helping Others Pursue Excellence. Some of the participating organizations include: Department of Motor Vehicles; Drive2Work; Chesterfield Employment Center; Women, Infants and Children program; Chesterfield County Health Department; CCHASM, Chesterfield Assessment and Resource team; and Chesterfield County Public Schools. The Chesterfield County Fairgrounds will be the site of a Fourth of July event this year from 5-9 p.m., and Fort Lee will host a musical event starting at 5:15 p.m. with fireworks to begin at 9:35 p.m. The fairgrounds, located at 10300 Courthouse Road across from L.C. Bird High School, will have a spectacular fireworks display at dusk. The event includes an activity area for children, food vendors and special entertainment. The Chesterfield County Police Department will help community members safely dispose of expired and unneeded medications on Saturday. The police department will host a medication take-back from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Manchester High School, 12601 Bailey Bridge Road. Police, volunteers and federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents will collect unused or expired prescription, over-the- counter and veterinary medications. Residents should leave medications in their original containers. Needles, syringes and other “sharps” will not be accepted. Turning in expired and unused medications helps prevent medication abuse and protect the environment.
