The Boy Scout American Heritage Merit Badge Workshop will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Historic Trinity Church, 10111 Iron Bridge Rd., Chesterfield. Do you have an interest in gardening? Would you like to help educate the public about environmentally-sound gardening practices? If so, the Chesterfield Master Gardener Program may be for you! Every spring, the Chesterfield Cooperative Extension office trains a new class of Master Gardeners, teaching them about the basics of horticulture and gardening. The 2016 Master Gardener class meets three times a week for nine weeks, beginning in February. The Pocahontas Chapter of Virginia Master Naturalists is accepting training applications now until October 30 for the 2016 Basic Training Class, which will be held January 5 to the end of April. The Virginia Master Naturalist Program is a statewide corps of volunteers providing education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities. Become Master Naturalists through 40 hours of basic training and field trips. With a focus on “Aqua-Foods Production for the Individual”, Virginia State University’s three-day Fish School begins Wednesday, July 8, and runs through Friday, July 10. Free and open to the public, the school is designed for anyone interested in growing freshwater fish or shrimp for fun or profit. Diggin’ in History for Beginners is designed for children ages eight to12 who will learn how to search for clues from the past.
