Chester Baptist Church Ultimate Christmas party is one of over 5,000 parties going on across the country as part of Child Evangelism Fellowship’s “Christmas Across America” initiative. Their party along with others like it across the country will spread the good news of Jesus Christ in a fun and inviting way. The Ultimate Christmas party for ages five to 12 will be this Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Children are invited to come enjoy games, songs, a Bible Story and snacks. The Boy Scout Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge Workshop will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Historic Trinity Church, 10111 Iron Bridge Rd., Chesterfield.This workshop fulfills merit badge requirements by allowing scouts to understand their rights, liberties and freedoms as citizens. The James River Parade of Lights, sponsored by the James River Advisory Council, is one of the region’s most cherished holiday events. The Parade of Lights will take place on Saturday, Dec. 12. For those boaters who would still like to enter their boat in the parade, prizes are awarded in several categories. An after-parade awards celebration is held for all participating boaters. Chesterfield County Public Library will host writer D. Randall Blythe, more popularly known as the lead singer of the rock band Lamb of God. The lyricist will talk about his recently published memoir as part of the library’s author visit series. The memoir called “Dark Days,” documents Blythe’s recent experience in a nineteenth century prison in the Czech Republic after being arrested for manslaughter. He was incarcerated for over a month in a cell with individuals who spoke little English.
