The Chesterfield County Public Library is hosting the Artisans’ Bazaar, an annual event featuring 33 local artisans who will display and sell their work. Some of the custom-made items include handcrafted jewelry, pewter figurines, soaps, photography, watercolors, and crocheted items. The James River Parade of Lights is one of the Richmond area’s most cherished winter events. The Petersburg Symphony Orchestra will hold its second concert of its 42nd season on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. with “A Classic Holiday.” The orchestra will be playing music that celebrates the spirit of this special season, including some Bach and Brahms, “Greensleeves,” “Carol of the Bells,” Sleigh Ride, and an audience sing-along. The Christmas season is quickly approaching, and the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother Committee is hard at work preparing for the upcoming holiday. The charity’s mission is that no local child is without food, clothes, toys and books, and that no elder forgotten during the holidays. The group’s 12th annual live silent auction will be held the evening of Saturday, Nov. 16. The fundraiser is sponsored by local businesses, so proceeds from ticket sales and bidding items and cash sponsorships can go directly to helping children and elders in need.
