In 1611, while English ships continued to supply, populate and monetize the Virginia colonies, the trip, which travel 3,000 miles and took over two months was a serious challenge but ships like the Susan Constant and Godspeed aided in the colonization of Virginia. A replica of these types of ships, a British three-masted, square-rigged sailing ship, was started in the 1970s and completed in the 1980s. On Saturday, Nov. 21, Bermuda Baptist Church, located at 13912 Jefferson Davis Hwy, will be serving a free community Thanksgiving Dinner. The dinner will be served from 1-3 p.m., and there will also be grocery items given out, to anyone that needs them. Everyone is welcome.

Recycling and trash collections Monday through Wednesday will be on regular schedule. RED Thursday and RED Friday recyclers will have a one day delay in recycling collection service due to the holiday. Collections will take place on the day following the regularly scheduled collection day. Friday collections will take place on Saturday. Friday trash collection services will take place on Saturday. E. Pettersen is a dynamic contemporary Christian artist who has been involved in Christian music since the age of seventeen. He is currently performing in churches throughout Virginia and surrounding states. Henricus Historical Park hosted the inaugural Hops in the Park Harvest Festival last Saturday. With approximately 3,500 attendees and proceeds going to support the children’s education fund at Henricus and the Old Dominion Hops Cooperative. Sharing the fun with Mouse King, the Chinese Dragon, the Russian Bear and the Mother Ginger children, 11-year-old Chester resident and dancer, Keri Burke, will have a holiday season she will never forget. Burke will be performing with the cast of the Richmond Ballet in Artistic Director Stoner Winslett’s “The Nutcracker.” She is dancing as one of the Mother Ginger children and is in one of the three casts that will perform during the holiday season.
