What if a neighbor moved, abandoning several cats who then appeared on your doorstep, hungry and cold? What would you do? You should be able to call Animal Control and, at the very least, be referred to some of the local private shelters or other organizations who might be able to help. No, Chesterfield Animal Control’s…

Hallelujah, March is finally here! As per most years, my winter doldrums vanish the instant the skies turn that Carolina blue and the sun starts to warm my skin. I love to hear the birds chirping, and my children playing outside. My windows are wide open and so is my heart this time of year. The blooms from the daffodils float in the breeze and the soft whisper of warmer days to come brush your skin. I absolutely can get drunk on spring. March is the light at the end of my dark, dreary, winter tunnel. I adore this month.…

They went to the electronics department and appeared to be looking at iPods. After a short period of time, one of the male suspects tried breaking into the locked iPod case while the other two stood watch at the isles. Eventually, one of the other suspects did break in, and, over the next half-hour, managed to steal more than 20 iPods by concealing…

Though Chesterfield Fire & EMS predates 1950, the first salaried Fire Marshal was hired in 1966. In 1969, the first salaried firefighters were hired and it was at this time that Robert L. Eanes went from being the Fire Marshal to Chief of the Department. Chief Eanes would lead the organization until 1996. Chesterfield would go from being an all-volunteer department to a combination department. Chesterfield Fire Dept. grew to be a great organization, with great firefighters and state of the art equipment. I appreciate Chief Eanes, since he was the one that gave me a job in 1985. Serving…

By Linda Fausz Chester Library nearly doubled its usual Saturday traffic when over 700 children, teens and adults got a taste of all different kinds of art, on Saturday, during Chester Library’s roll-out signature event “A Taste of Art.” Activity was happening in every corner and the excitement was felt throughout with staff and volunteers dressed in black and sporting colorful berets, to represent the long-standing stereotype of the intellectual, film director, artist, hipster, or poet. “Our goal was to celebrate all types of art,” said Jessica Harshbarger. Harshbarger was Chester Library’s branch manager when she and her staff were…
