New Meadowbrook softball coach Lisa Keys inherits a program that has struggled for some time now. Once proud, the program has been in a state of rebuilding. Keys is here to change this. “I took this job to grow the program,” said Keys. “My coaching philosophy is physical-mental-emotional development in perfect alignment at once.” A pitching coach for 25 years and a former college coach at the Brigham Young University-Hawaii, she appears to have the credentials and experience to get the job done. Though the program has been down, the cupboard is not devoid of talent. Keys has three players…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. The warmer weather has got my green thumb a twitching and this weekend I planted some new roses in the front of my house. If you remember my faithful pack members, several years ago, I related to you that my beautiful roses that I have had since I built this house, got a nasty virus that could only be cured by digging them up and burning them. They were some of the most beautiful roses I have grown for a very long time and it broke my heart to…

Clark Kent, Wolverine, Supergirl, zombies, an alien, and pirates could be seen roaming Meadowdale Library at last weekend’s Comic Con event. The event tickled the imagination, inspired and promoted creativity. “The planning starts in the summer before the event,” said Kate Denwiddie, one of the organizers of the event, “It takes about nine months to plan.” In its fourth year the local Comic Con event is one of many in cities across the country. Unfortunately, sweet Chester has begun to assault my senses, and not in a positive way. Just getting to Kroger is a feat in itself these days. Route10 is jam packed with people coming and going, and I am…
