Sept. 24, 26 house fires

Fire damaged a home in the 3400 block of Foster Avenue on Saturday, Sept. 26, around 7:38 p.m. and left six people homeless. Fire and medical crews arrived on scene to find smoke showing from the front door of the home. Occupants evacuated. No injuries were reported. Lt. Jason Elmore said the fire cause was cooking. The Defense Logistics Agency’s Aviation unit at the military base recently got a new commander and opened a new five-floor 252,000-square-foot headquarters building. Air Force Brig. Gen. A 124-acre development is being proposed for the northeast corner of Courthouse Road and Route 10. The site at 8701 Iron Bridge Road would include 270,000 square feet of retail, including an anchor store of 50,000 square feet.
