Two children die after being found in vehicle
0Two five-month-old children died Thursday after police found them in a vehicle at Maisonette Apartments. Chesterfield Police responded at 2:29 p.m. May 10 to the apartments in the 2400 block of Alfalfa Lane just east of Jefferson Davis Highway in the Bensley area, a press release states. Chesterfield County Fire and EMS transported the children to Chippenham Hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the other died several hours later. Police continue to investigate this incident. Two teens killed by train
0CHESTER – Two teenagers were killed by a passing Amtrak train around 5 p.m. May 9 in the village of Chester. Chesterfield police identified the teens as Presley A. Trent, 13, of the 10800 block of Erin Green Court, and Samuel W. Rivas, 18, of the 13600 block of Quail Hollow Lane. Police Lt. John Miller said Trent was a student at Elizabeth Davis Middle School, and Rivas attended Clover Hill High School. Body found in wooded area near Ridgedale Parkway
0CHESTERFIELD– The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was discovered in the area of the 4800 block of Ridgedale Parkway Tuesday, May 8. At about 6:40 p.m. May 8, police responded to a report of a body found in a wooded area. The body was transported to the office of the chief medical examiner. Police continue their investigation, but foul play is not suspected. 0Mother’s Day falls on May 13 this year, and one family that will be together that day boasts five generations of women ranging from age 11 to 99. Clara Dennis is Marie North’s mother, Penny Conner’s grandmother, Ashley Stanley’s great-grandmother and Mya Johnson’s great-great-grandmother. Dennis has four children, several great-great-grandchildren and four generations in Tennessee. This year marks her 78th Mother’s Day. EDA votes to withdraw rezoning application

Body of missing man found in Falling Creek
0At about 10:30 a.m. May 5, Chesterfield officers responded to a report of a man found deceased in Falling Creek near the 2500 block of Marina Drive. The man has been identified as Edward D. Mendez, 38, of the 2500 block of Marina Drive. Mendez had been reported missing by his family around 11 p.m. May 2. The body was transported to the office of the chief medical examiner. Former Matoaca High teacher charged
0Chesterfield Police have arrested and charged a former Chesterfield County Public Schools teacher with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child in a custodial relationship. Craig D. Nixon, 50, was arrested May 4. Police said Nixon had an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile female student while he was a teacher at Matoaca High School. The investigation indicates the relationship began earlier this year and continued through March.
