Auditions for “Anne of Green Gables”

Director, Naomi Mottley seeks 20 boys and girls under 18 and 10 men and women over 18 to play various characters in the Chesterfield Children’s Theatre’s fall play, “Anne of Green Gables.” Auditions will be held at 2 p.m. on August 6 at Clover Hill Library, 6701 Deer Run Dr., Midlothian. The show will be performed the first weekend in November and actors must have no conflicts after 6 p.m. the week prior for tech rehearsals. Chesterfield Historical Society Elects New Officers and Directors

The Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia (CHSV) has elected three directors-at-large to serve as officers and added three new directors to serve on the all-volunteer board of the non-profit organization. Incoming president is Claude Baker who has served as a director-at-large on the board since 2014. The newly elected vice president is Therese Wagenknecht, who joined the CHSV board in 2010 and has served as president of the society (2011-2013) as well as past president and acting president.  Doug Blake, a director-at-large since 2015, will serve as treasurer.  The current recording secretary, Steve Haasch, will continue in this position.  Outgoing…

When I was a boy, I would spend a few weeks each summer with my family in southwest Virginia.  Part of that time was spent with one of my uncles on his farm.  “Putting up hay,” driving tractors,  and driving big trucks was entertainment to me.  What I did not realize then was that it meant income to my uncle.  Farming has changed over the years, but what has not changed is the need to sell the product.  Here are some examples of how we can enjoy local produce. Chesterfield County government and schools officials named a soccer field at Harry G. Daniel Park at Iron Bridge to honor a fallen soldier: Army Sgt. Jeffrey A. Reed. The ceremony last Friday marked the official naming of the soccer field to the Jeffrey A. Reed Soccer Field. It is appropriate that a soccer field was named in his honor. Crime Solvers needs your help to solve a credit card fraud. On July 7, two males were seen entering the Walmart located in the 12000 block of Iron Bridge Road. Loss prevention personnel saw these men attempting to use multiple credit cards to purchase pre-paid Visa gift cards. Chesterfield County Police have been advised that at least one of these credit cards was stolen. The first suspect is described as a white male with a stocky build wearing a light blue T-shirt.
