Old West Hundred corner could be developed

0

Chester could get a new building at the entrance to Chester Village at the intersection of West Hundred Road and Old West Hundred Road. The proposed building would be called Chester Mini Storage and contain 500 interior storage units. The exterior of the building would look like an office building. The property where the proposed building would be built on is 3.4 acres. A buffer (native trees and bushes) would equal about 50 feet at the rear and west sides and five feet along West Hundred Road. The five feet is proposed due to the wide right of way that…

Chewing the Fat at Magee’s

1

Who are these guys? Do you know? All we really know is that they were standing outside of Magee’s Pharmacy in Chester. It looks as if they are hanging out just chewing the fat on the sidewalk at the intersection of Old Hundred (Hundred Road then) and Harrowgate roads. New Chester gossip or business discussions; what were they talking about? At the time Hundred Road was a business district just a few blocks long. The businesses there at the time included a hardware store, a post office, and the first library in Chesterfield County including a grocery and of course,…

Chester Lions collect for White Cane Fundraiser

0

During the White Cane fund raising event on May 6 and 7, the Chester Lions Club met their monetary goal and the members met many wonderful supporters from the community. Many of those generous people are friends of members of the Lions and all are very kind-hearted.  There are always citizens who have stories about some earlier personal experience with Lions. The stories are accounts of times when they or a family member or perhaps just a friend were recipients of services provided by a Lions club. Pictured with Ralph Jones is of one of those recipients. When Carol Tillar…

Raising good people

We all fail as parents at one point or another. I am fully convinced that no matter how stable and nurturing of an environment I provide for my two, they will undoubtedly end up needing therapy in their adult years from some slight or trauma that I induced unknowingly. It just seems that is the way it is these days. See, when I was growing up, quite a few of us had “functional dysfunction” households. My husband and I are from “broken homes” and endured many scenarios that my children will never bear witness to; and we work very hard…
