History-based Summer Camps Offered

The Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia (CHSV) in partnership with Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer four camps this summer. Diggin’ in History Beginner Archaeology Camp is designed for children ages eight through 12 who will learn how to search for clues from the past. Hands-on activities include site surveys, excavations and artifact repair. A field trip to the Prince George Heritage Museum is included. Megan Stith from Thomas Dale High School is honored as a semi-finalist in the Forty-seventh annual national Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship Competition. The prestigious awards are granted to high school seniors for the best all around presentations including an explanation of why they are planning careers in government service. The Foundation noted that these students represent the most talented and accomplished of our country’s young leaders and that it is these young men and women who are dedicating themselves to public service. Hallelujah, March is finally here! As per most years, my winter doldrums vanish the instant the skies turn that Carolina blue and the sun starts to warm my skin. I love to hear the birds chirping, and my children playing outside. My windows are wide open and so is my heart this time of year. The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to catch some bold thieves. On Saturday, Feb. 20, at approximately 3:15 p.m., three men entered the Walmart in Chattanooga Plaza Shopping Center on Hull Street Road. They went to the electronics department and appeared to be looking at iPods. After a short period of time, one of the male suspects tried breaking into the locked iPod case while the other two stood watch at the isles. Eventually, one of the other suspects did break in, and, over the next half-hour, managed to steal more than 20 iPods by concealing…
