Imagine the anticipation of Christmas morning and dreaming of a gift under the Christmas Tree. For many this dream will come true, but for others, just day-to-day survival is a struggle. Enon Church of God has launched a project to not only take part in Christmas but to change lives locally and globally. A few days before Thanksgiving, 300 Christmas trees arrived at the Enon Church of God located at 900 Enon Church Rd. With the “Buy a tree, Change a life” project, the church is partnering with ForHope.us and People for Care & Learning. Lead Pastor Bryan Ogle said he…

Community Compassion

So, I will start with this; community, what is a community and what does that word mean to you? My sweet daughter has learned about communities in kindergarten this year, so this word is one that we should all know. It is my hope that the word is one that will become…

The Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers program needs your help to solve a robbery. Around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, a young man was standing outside his apartment in the 3900 block of Handel Court in Squire Hill Apartments. A gold-colored sedan, possibly a Toyota, stopped near him and a black male wearing all-black clothing and a mask got out of the driver’s side front seat. He pointed a gun toward the victim’s feet and demanded his shoes. The victim refused, so a second black male suspect exited the vehicle from the rear passenger side. Before that passenger reached…

I assume that most of you either saw the pictures or heard the story of the McKenney pumper and Dinwiddie sheriff’s vehicle that were struck on I-85, by a tractor-trailer. The units were working an accident at 2 a.m. in the morning, when the second accident occurred. I know very few details about this incident, but I spent my last four years, blocking for the engine or serving as the Tactical Safety Officer. Interstates and other limited access roadways present tremendous safety challenges to fire, police and EMS personnel. You have noticed that the entire back of new ambulances and…
