Police are seeking a man who is wanted in connection with a 2018 attempted robbery that occurred in the 17000 block of Lansmill Drive in south Chesterfield. Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, to the 11800 block of Lewis Road for a fire at the Ingenco building, where methane from the landfill is converted into electricity at the Shoosmith Bros. complex. A warehouse building had fire and smoke conditions when firefighters arrived, Lt. Jason Elmore said in a press release. It took crews approximately an hour to get the fire under control. Firefighters fight a fire at an Ettrick grocery store last week. One firefighter was injured while battling a fire in the 21100 block of Chesterfield Ave on Wednesday, Feb. 6. Smoke showing from the roof of Virginia’s Best Mart Grocery Store at 21113 Chesterfield Ave. was reported around 11:50 a.m. “Occupants of the building self-evacuated,” Chesterfield Fire and EMS Lt. Jason Elmore said. The fire was under control at 12:15 p.m. The cause of the fire was electrical, Elmore said. Elmore said the firefighter had non-life threatening injuries. The store will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.

Editor: I am writing to express my concern about the mistreatment of inmates in our prisons. While inhumane treatment is fairly common in many of our Virginia Department of Corrections prisons, possibly the worst female prison is Central Virginia Correctional Unit 13 located at 6900 Courthouse Road. I have heard numerous complaints from current inmates of the severely unsanitary conditions there. Justin M. Plummer Chesterfield Police are searching for a missing man who was last seen at about 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17. Justin M. Plummer, of the 3900 block of Berrybrook Drive, was last seen by his mother. She reported that Plummer left the residence and told her he was going to Kentucky. Jessica Yeakey A former treasurer of the Parent Teacher Association at Elizabeth Scott Elementary School was recently sentenced to five years in prison with all but three months suspended for embezzlement. Jessica Yeakey, 42, of the 12000 block of Windsor Road, was sentenced Jan. 17 after pleading guilty. Judge David E. Johnson departed from the sentencing guidelines, which called for probation and no jail time. Yeakey was ordered to pay restitution of $2,840 plus $445 for the cost of her defense and complete a Recovery Connection addiction treatment program. She was also banned from the Elizabeth Scott PTA.
