Basketball Skills Camp held at Bird June 20-24

L. C. Bird Basketball Skills Camp 2016 has been scheduled for June 20-24 for girls six through 16. The camp will be held Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Friday.

Camp will be held at Lloyd C. Bird High School. Campers should be prepared with a T-shirt, shorts, and basketball shoes. Campers may bring a bag lunch or purchase lunch for $3. Lunch for purchase will include sandwich/pizza, chips/fruit and drink.

Along with learning from outstanding coaches and players, will compete and learn, putting their lessons to use in full-court games. Campers can expect to improve every part of their game: ball handling, rebounding, passing, offense with and without the ball, defense on and off the ball, and shooting.

There will be camp T-shirts, prizes, free throw competition by age groups, and guest speakers.

Coach Chevette Waller will be conducting the camp. Waller has continued to keep up with the tradition of establishing a well-rounded girls’ basketball team. For 2014-2015 season the Lady Skyhawks were state runners-up. Waller has over 15 years coaching experience and is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of basketball. Girls she has coached who have played at the next level went to: VCU, JMU, Hartford, Davidson, Northeastern, North Texas, Eastern Washington, Grambling, and Northwestern Ohio, to name a few.

Camp fees are $100 per camper with registration at the door on Monday, June 20. Pre-registration is $90 and money order or checks may be mailed to Chevette Waller, L. C. Bird High School, 10301 Courthouse Rd., Chesterfield, VA 23832.
