Act of Kindness

To the Editor:

Two months or more ago, I lost the car keys.  “They’re bound to be here,” I thought. “Because I drove home in the car,” they’ll surely show up soon.  However, after constant searching of the car, pockets, house, and garage, the keys were never discovered.  Finally, I was convinced I’d never see those keys again, so I planned to go out on last Monday to have a new one made.

Sunday night, the phone rang, but I didn’t answer since it, showed no recognizable name. However, after four rings, a cheerful voice said, “I’m Tim at Panera bread.  A customer came in today with keys he had found in his neighborhood.  He noticed a Panera card on the key ring…”  I grabbed the phone and heard the rest of the wonderful news. My keys had been found by a thoughtful person who wanted them to be returned and knew how to get the job done. Tim, in his kind way, cooperated with the customer by making the call which was so important to me.

On Monday morning, a very happy person came out of Panera with her once-lost car keys, and I now wish to thank all who had a part in the “angel visit.”  What a tribute these kind people of Chester gave to our village by displaying such kindness during these challenging times.

Thank you very much.
