Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. I am pleased to announce that I have made another trip around the big yellow ball in the sky that we call the sun. Even though we know that it takes the same amount of time to go around in a big circle, it just seems to be going faster and faster the older I get. Maybe it feels that way because I can see the end of the road much clearer than the beginning of this journey. With that being said, you also look at all the things…

Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. As I mentioned in my past article, I was going to get carpet for my whole house: the master bedroom, living room, and both small bedrooms. The carpet store told me they would move the heavy furniture but all of the stuff in the cabinets, breakables, etc., I would have to move by myself. The only areas not impacted were the kitchen, dining room and the bathrooms, which became the storage area for dozens of boxes and baskets, with the overflow going into the garage. What a mess. then,…
Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. Hope you had a nice Labor Day weekend. I took the opportunity to go visit my sister and her husband who live in southern, Ohio, in the general area where we grew up. The weather was nice. Traffic was heavy at times but steady. The police, especially in Ohio was out in force to welcome all of the visitors to the Buckeye State. Some drivers were lucky enough to get an autograph to take back home with them. LOL. So after that five-hour drive, I think I deserve a…
Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. If my calendar is correct, which it is sometimes, we have a holiday coming up, Labor Day. The really good news is that there are some places that are actually open this time, even if they are only partly open. I think it would be a great time to go to places that are usually packed wall to wall with people, like Disneyland. The last time I was there was so long ago. I think it was in July because it was very hot and they had these mist…
Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. If my calendar is correct, sometimes it is, we are almost ready to celebrate Labor Day; however, unfortunately, at this time, there will not be a lot of labor to celebrate. We are coming back from COVID 19 and it will take time and we will have to show some patience. So anyway, what else is going on? Well, I can add a new critter to my list…I have a mommy possum running around by the apple trees. I am guessing she is going after the apples that have…
Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. I just finished my last week of furlough No. 4 from my job, which started back in April. Each week that I was forced off, I picked a major project to do. During the first three weeks, I have painted both of the small bedrooms, the hallway and kitchen, then the master bedroom. Obviously, painting has been my main theme so far, and to finish up I decided to also paint my deck.No surprise here! I have a rather large deck, probably about 30 x 50, so that is…
Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. It seems there is never a dull moment around here. If it were dull, then these articles would be very boring. At least, I pray, they keep you awake long enough to finish the article. It is very difficult to get newsprint off your face. Trust me! LOL. Anyway, I fell into the bathtub the other day. Yes, “into,” is correct. My master bathroom is pretty large; it has a double sink, linen closet, a huge shower, and a large bathtub located right behind the double sinks. I was…
Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. As I have mentioned in several past articles, my neighbor has three large dogs that like to come over and visit now and then. One is a Great Pyrenees and the other two are Burmese Mountain dogs. The other day I noticed “Whitey,” the Great Pyrenees, and “Dude,” the youngest of the three (the names I gave to the dogs), were in the yard. They like to come over and lie in the cool grass that is shaded by the house from the hot Western setting sun. Normally, I…
Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. I had an interesting experience the other day. I mean normally it would not have registered on the “gee wheeze” scale, but in this case it did. Let me explain. A few days ago, I took my car in to have a slow leak fixed on my tire and decided to get an oil change while I was there. I have one of those cars that can tell you the life of your oil…and mine registered 25%…not quite ready but close enough to want to save another trip to…
Hello and welcome back to the wonderful world of the Dogpound. I hope you had a nice Fourth of July weekend despite all of the things that are going on trying to prevent us from celebrating our freedom. As I have mentioned before, I live out in the country surrounded by farmland, and I am constantly surprised by the number of critters I see. I mean on the road, not in the fields. I have roughly a mile plus gravel road to drive before I get on the nearest paved road. Now, I say “paved” loosely, since the part I…
