Over 150 guests officially welcomed Harrowgate Fire Station No. 21 to the community with a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday, April 26. During the reception, guests were able to tour the station. The station will serve over 8,000 residents, 18 percent of the county’s industrial sites and 10 percent of its storage facilities. Daniel Cheatham, a graduate of Thomas Dale High school and Longwood University, was commissioned as an officer in the Army National Guard at Fort Pickett on April 18. After serving in the Guard since 2006 as a pharmacy tech, Sgt. Cheatham applied and was accepted into the Accelerated OCS, SOC program. At the graduation ceremony, Cheatham was referred to as a “natural leader” by guest speaker SFC Michael E. Nolan. The three-year-old preschool class at Chester Presbyterian Church was in full support of Red Nose Day on May 21. Wanda Gentry, grandmother of a preschooler said their noses were so little that they could not move without their big red noses falling off and rolling across the floor. Red Nose Day is a campaign dedicated to raising money for children and young people living in poverty by simply having fun and making people laugh.
